The Last Steam Railroad in America.
Photographs by O. Winston Link. Text by Thomas H. Garver.
Harry N. Abrams,
144 pp., 100 duotone and 24 full color illustrations, 11½x10½".
Those who know Link's work from the best-selling Steam, Steel & Stars will be thrilled with this new monograph. Unlike the aforementioned book, which portrayed steam engines only at night, this book includes daytime photographs, and 24 examples of Link's color work, as well as night photographs, two of them in color. O. Winston Link spent the years 1955-1959 photographing the steam engines of the Norfolk and Western lines while they were still in operation, just before the diesels took over. This book covers branches of the N&W lines which were not seen in the first book. A must for the Link fan!
