BOOK OF THE WEEK — A Pick by Christian Michael Filardo
: All That Cannot Be Said. Christian Michael Filardo is a photographer and composer living and working in Santa Fe, NM. Filardo has worked for VICE Magazine, Believer Magazine, the Phoenix New Times, and is the shipping manager at photo-eye Bookstore. He is a recent recipient of an honorarium in new music from Oberlin College’s Modern Music Guild. Filardo’s first book, Say My Last Name Softly, a collaboration with Marie Claire Bryant, was released in April 2016 on Holy Page Records.
All That Cannot Be Said

Christian Michael Filardo selects all that cannot be said by Colin Stearns published by kris graves projects.

"Colin Stearns returns with a pile of ash, something ethereal to share with the viewer. A blurred illustration — defined just as much by what isn’t there as by what is. Everything seems to be a sign, a totem defining a new mystery. In all that cannot be said we are asked to take a deep look at something that is slipping away. Smashed cars mirror wilting flowers. Graffiti scrawls mimic a knot tied around a chain link fence. Urbanity becomes precious, cold asphalt grows familiar, and a vague memory is triggered by a shadow — another face you thought you knew. Can a person really be missing? …I really love this book; it’s subtle, clever, and dangerous. At times it can feel really cinematic, a philosophical drama that leaves you with just as many questions as answers."—Christian Michael Filardo  Read more
