David Jiranek, founder of The Rwanda Project, Dead at 45.
David Jiranek, founder of Through the Eyes of the Children also
known as The Rwanda Project, died tragically, Aug. 17 in a swimming
accident while on vacation in North Hatley, Quebec. The
Rwanda Project began as a photographic workshop for the Imbabazi Orphanage children. Using disposable cameras, these children photograph their day-to-day lives, providing hope, beauty, and dignity as that country struggles to rebuild.

Will Clift: Fourteen Sculptures
photo-eye Gallery is pleased to present Will Clift: Fourteen Sculptures, an
unprecedented exhibition of work in wood from September 12 to November 8. An
artist's reception will be held on Friday, Sept. 12 from 5 to 7 pm.
Will Clift's sculptures consist of graceful intersections of sinuous forms,
which together stand balanced on an astonishingly small point. The work
explores the boundary between two- and three-dimensional art, revealing
relationships between forms, the spaces created by the forms, and the
gravity within which they stand. The work on exhibit is the result of his
many years of work with wood as a sculptural medium. Born in New Mexico,
Clift was developing the foundation of his fascination with sculptural form
from a very young age. The intuition with which he works and the originality
of his sculpture is a testament to this. Photo-Eye Gallery has exhibited
Clift's sculpture since 2001. For further information please contact Wendy
Lewis, Gallery Director.

STEVE FITCH: Diesels and Dinosaurs - Signed.
Fitch's photographs capture the feeling of travelling along America's highways, isolating views of truck stops, billboards, and neon motel signs. Mostly devoid of human subjects, the images provide a powerful and often humorous portrait of the commercial landscape of civilization.

CHRISTINA ANDERSON: Experimental Photography Workbook.
This is a true no-frills darkroom guidebook on a variety of alternative photographic processes. Compiled over the years by Anderson from classes taken and taught, it is filled with helpful hints. She covers cliche-verre, reticulation, cross-processing, and the Mortensen metalchrome process (don't worry, we hadn't heard of that one!). The book is spiral-bound to lay flat in those cramped darkrooms.
