2004 Pulitzer Prizes for Photojournalism Announced
The Pulitzer Prize board announced the 2004 winners in photojournalism yesterday. David Leeson and Cheryl Diaz Meyer of the Dallas Morning News were awarded the prize for breaking news photography. According to the board the two were chosen "for their eloquent photographs depicting both the violence and poignancy of the war with Iraq."

In the feature photography category, a Los Angeles Times photojournalist won the Pulitzer for the second year running. Carolyn Cole, who also received this year's National Press Photographer's Association Best of Photojournalism honors, was cited for her "cohesive, behind-the-scenes look at the effects of civil war in Liberia, with special attention to innocent citizens caught in the conflict."
