Carola Clift: The Art of Becoming (preview to Spring 2005 exhibit)
photo-eye Gallery is pleased to present photographs and paintings by Carola Clift. In her recent Camera Arts article, Carola states,"I am both a painter and a photographer. And for me, they are essentially the same thing. There is an ambiguity in many of the pieces: they resist being reduced to a single, predictable conclusion. They ask questions, rather that stating answers and in so-doing, engage the viewer to look further." Work on display at photo-eye Gallery, Santa Fe, from June 25-August 28 2004.

Shimon Attie: Shimon Attie Shimon Attie
By projecting archived, black and white images of pre-WWII Roman Jews onto the color background of the contemporary city and onto the ruins of the Roman Empire, Attie situates this "forgotten community" poignantly in the grand historical narrative. Published in conjunction with Attie's exhibit at the Museum of Contemporary Photography in Chicago.

Lukas Felzmann: Landfall Lukas Felzmann: Landfall
Landfall is part travel diary, part meditation, a guidebook to wanderlust. The need to find connection to the natural world, to the land in which one lives, is central to Lukas Felzmann's work, and as such, provides the structural foundation to this collection of images. READ MORE

Garry Winogrand: The Animals Garry Winogrand: The Animals
"Winogrand's zoo, even if true, is a grotesquery. It is a surreal Disneyland where unlikely human beings and jaded careerist animals stare at each other through bars, exhibiting bad manners and a mutual failure to recognize their own ludicrous predicaments."—John Szarkowski

"Paul Graham's photographs touch upon the social fracture of America—the great divide—between included and excluded, black and white, have and have-not...American Night embraces this neglected territory in a series of shocking images which lodge firmly in our consciousness as they slip between the categories of art and document."—the publisher

Charles Katz: Erratics Charles Katz: Erratics—Signed
"The monolithic glacial erratic boulders in these photographs by Charles Katz are a prominent feature of the Withrow Moraine on the Waterville Plateau in north-central Washington state. The geologic history of these 'haystack rocks,' as they are known in the area, is one of floods—floods of lava, of water, and of ice"—from Kevin Pogue's introductory essay READ MORE
