Russell Phillips' portfolio Movie Theater Interiors
"As much as I respect the historic value of the vintage movie theater, my initial attraction was not merely to document for preservation. As well, I have an interest in how the application of color defines our perceptions of place. My response of fascination and seduction to these interiors is not unlike that of its original audience."—Russell Phillips

Bill Burke: Autrefois, Maison Privee Bill Burke: Autrefois, Maison Privee
"Photographer Bill Burke has taken annual trips to Indochina ever since he first traveled to Asia in 1982. Transfixed by buildings like the municipal offices built by the French in the 1860s, the vaulted railroad stations and post offices of the 1930s, and the art-deco fantasy cinemas of the 1960s, Burke saw the region as an architectural museum, rotting in the humidity and untouched by economic ambition, and began to trace the cultural changes in the area through its architecture."—the publisher READ MORE

"Catherine Steinmann's rich and elegant portraits capture in photographs what fails in words—that moment of transformation, a quiet before the storm. With a knowing eye she balances excitement with anticipation, the physical with the ethereal. A welcome addition to our photographic literature.—Phillip S.
