Guggenheim Fellowships in Photography
Four photographers from the U.S. and Latin America were recipients of 2004 Guggenheim Fellowships this past May. Uta Barth, whose is known for abstract photography—often intentionally blurred and off center—that questions the nature of both perception and the medium of photography. A monograph on her work is forthcoming from Phaidon. Paola Ferrario received her MFA from Yale in 2001. Her most recent solo exhibition was Texas Cotton Towns. Mark Klett's work is the subject of the book View Finder: Mark Klett, Photography, and the Reinvention of Landscape William L. Fox. Argentinean artist Carlos Darío Albornoz is a contemporary master of the daguerreotype and other "primitive" processes.
