Kay Denton's Portfolio Beyond Memory
"As an artist, I believe that somewhere between memory and imagination everything is connected by a core energy. Only when I begin to let go of what I know logically, technically, and consciously, am I able to create a visual surface that will take me deeper than reality."—Kay Denton

Two New Portfolios from Keith Carter: Talbot's Shadow and More New Work
photo-eye Gallery is pleased to announce a portfolio of New Work by Keith Carter, plus the online lauch of photogram's from his Talbot's Shadow series. The New Work continues in the playful tradition of his earliest images, while the photograms of birds and insects invoke an eerie reference to William Henry Fox Talbot, one of photography's early practitioners and the author of The Pencil of Nature.

On the Block: Erich Salomon's Portrat Einer EpocheOn the Block: Erich Salomon's Portrat Einer Epoche
The (true) first edition of the best modern monograph on the work of Erich Salomon, who is frequently credited with popularizing concealed-camera photo-reportage. Salomon documented the movers and shakers of the late 1920's and 1930's in their milieu, including political, cultural, and historical figures. The velvety-rich gravure printing in this edition makes it far preferable to the later editions with halftone photographs.
