Paper Forests: Photographs of Trees in our Time Opening Friday 5-7 pm
photo-eye Gallery, located at 370 Garcia Street in Santa Fe, is pleased to announce Paper Forests: Trees of Our Time, a group show exhibiting photographs by gallery and non-gallery artists. The exhibit opens this Friday, September 23rd, 5-7 pm. The show continues through November 26th.

Paper Forests examines the multiple perspectives in which photographers capture the presence, beauty and mystery of trees. These images invite a closer examination of our relationship to trees on both the physical and spiritual plane. While some address the issues of deforestation and sustainability, others subtly reflect the impact of trees on us both emotionally and psychologically.

Artists include, Debbie Fleming Caffery, Mark Citret, William Clift, Byung-Hun Min, Mona Kuhn, Pentti Sammallhati, Nick Brandt, Mark Klett, Laurie Tumer, Raymond Meeks, Keith Carter, Michael Kenna, Terri Weifenbach, Darius Himes, Carola Clift, Linda Connor, David Gibson, Mark Eshbaugh, Francis Baker, Peter Steinhauer, Jonathan Long, Keith Sharp, and Derek Mohr.

Publishing the Photographic Book: A Primer
Darius Himes, the photo-eye Booklist Editor, and Joanna Hurley, a book publishing professional with more than 25 years of experience and Chairperson of the Board of the Santa Fe Center for Photography, present a two-day intensive workshop in New York City October 18-19, 2005. This workshop is for photographers at intermediate to advanced/professional levels who are interested in publishing a body of work in book form. The course will cover all stages of publishing, beginning with a set of directed questions for the photographer about where they are in their career and where they want to go. The class will also survey the state of photography book publishing. Editorial, design, and production considerations will be discussed in-depth, as well as ways to approach publishers and ways of marketing the finished product.
