Dick Sanders' Portfolio Faces On The Street
"I've observed essentially two types of subjects. Those who are very much engaged (with me) in the act of making the portrait. And those who seem not quite to be there and are looking through me as if I weren't there. Both are fascinating, but my favorites are the latter ones, simply because these individuals seem to have let their guard down and are revealing something more private."—Dick Sanders

Shoji Ueda: Photo Album-Brilliant Scenes (SIGNED!!) Shoji Ueda: Photo Album-Brilliant Scenes (SIGNED!!)
Early in his career, in the 1930s, Ueda had already absorbed many of the modernist tendencies then prevalent in photography in the West. The images in this collection were taken using a Vest Pocket-Kodak that Ueda adapted with a modern Pentax AE lens. Sensitizing agents were used on the color negative film. Ueda brilliantly manipulates the soft focus effects afforded by this set-up. A scarce book!

Simon Roberts: Motherland Simon Roberts: Motherland
"Simon Roberts travelled throughout Russia between July 2004 and August 2005, making pictures in over 200 locations and creating one of the most extensive, comprehensive photographic accounts of this vast country by a Westerner. His images are not clichéd representations of a Russia ground down by poverty and despair; rather, he presents a beautiful and awe-inspiring land, with a dignified people empowered by a growing optimism and a deep rooted sense of national esteem."—the publisher READ MORE

"In the 1940s Erwin Blumenfeld (1897-1969) became one of America's top fashion photographers, and eventually the highest paid photographer in the world. His work for Vogue and Harper's Bazaar remains influential. "Turning Back: A Photographic Journal of Re-Exploration is published to coincide with the bicentennial of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. The narrative begins at the Pacific Ocean and moves eastward through what was formerly one of the world's great rain forests. Photographs at the center of the book report on the forest's destruction. Elsewhere they trace a search for hope."—Phil Harris READ MORE
