Erik Boker's portfolio PRODUCT DISSECTIONS
"I frequently enjoy working in the brackish waters between ethnography and art, as well as within the authority and authenticity of the museum. I am drawn to sociological and visual curiosities, artifact, artificiality, and document, and the role we place nature in our lives and environments. With beauty and surprise, I try making the familiar strange and the strange comprehensible."— Erik Boker

Lead Belly: A Life in Pictures
Review by John Cohen
Lead Belly: A Life in Pictures is a celebratory view of the great musician, filled with testimonials, poems and memories from Huddie Ledbetter's family, friends and admirers, such as Tom Waits, Pete Seeger, Woody Guthrie, Kurt Cobain, Janis Joplin and many others who saw the greatness of Lead Belly's music. The uniqueness of this handsome book is its photographs, which speak to Lead Belly's power and persona. At first glance, this is a scrapbook of images and documents uncovered in a box, presumably the collection of Huddie's wife, Martha. There are personal handwritten letters to her, as well as many of the more horrific documents that shaped Lead Belly's life...

| Todd Hido: House Hunting (1st Edition) In Todd Hido's photographs suburbia is lonely and perplexing, yet utterly familiar. Interiors and exteriors are photographed while light spills in from the windows or bathes the aluminum siding in an otherworldly glow. "In Hido's photographs, the rest of the world remains present, but unseen—its demands to be expressed or signified are held in abeyance, stirring the viewer's own memories."—Artweek. |
