James Friedman's portfolio Interior Design
"Interior Design was inspired by my interest in the technology of golf. Premium metal woods and golf balls have been impacted by the use of cutting-edge materials; balls can traverse greater distances than in the past. Drives now travel, on average, thirty yards farther than twenty years ago. Golf ball cores made with high-tech composite materials, created in research labs (enveloped in the kind of secrecy that surrounded the development of the atomic bomb) are, in part, responsible for the improved performance of golf equipment."—James Friedman |

New Mexicoreviewed by Phil Harris
Lee Friedlander's windows to the world have been coming at us at a steady clip for about five decades now, a series of news bulletins from the under-mapped monochrome continent, Friedland. Whether framed by a car window, sun-spattered and expansive, or hermetic as the atmosphere in an oxygen tent, it's been pretty easy to spot one of his pictures — regardless of subject... read the whole review

| Rineke Dijkstra: Israel Portraits (SCARCE Israeli Exhibition Catalogue) One of Dijkstra's best known bodies of work. Now quite rare, this catalogue accompanied a 2001 show at two Israeli venues. As she explains in her preface, "In my work, I look for specific characteristics of individual people within group settings...I am interested in the paradox between identity and uniformity, in the power and vulnerability of each individual and each group. It is this paradox that I try to visualize by concentrating on poses, attitudes, gestures and gazes."
Also on the block, a rare copy of the bizarrely compelling Mao Tsetung: A Selection of Photographs! |

Phillip Toledano: Phonesex
"Toledano has photographed nearly thirty phonesex operators in the intimate setting of their own homes, offering a seldom-seen glimpse into the reality of what otherwise is a fantasy created by the operator's voice, and caller's imagination. Accompanying every portrait is a text written by each subject touching on some aspect of his or her experience as an operator."—the publisher READ MORE

Michael Fried: Why Photography Matters as Art as Never Before
More copies arriving in one to two weeks.
"From the late 1970s onward, serious art photography began to be made at large scale and for the wall. Michael Fried argues that this immediately compelled photographers to grapple with issues centering on the relationship between the photograph and the viewer standing before it that until then had been the province only of painting."—the publisher READ MORE
