Michelle Repici's portfolio Over the Hills and Far Away
"The children in my images are beautiful and well dressed, and inhabit a storybook landscape somewhere between a Henry Darger fantasy and a Grimm's fairytale. They occupy the insular dream-state that we recognize as childhood, or a certain idea of what it means to be a child. Though one might initially view their outer beauty as a reflection of an untainted mind, their surroundings tell a different story. I intend these images to demonstrate the push and pull between children's mental and physical purity with the looming danger and corruption of the outside world."—Michelle Repici

Artist's proof in a limited edition of 100. Signed on front flyleaf. Clothbound with tipped-in cover image. 56 photo-lithographic reproductions.
The wildly scarce limited edition of this early catalogue! The stark, unadorned design of the book suits the austere tone of Misrach's desert landscapes. Very fine copy. |

Jessica Backhaus: What Still Remains
"In their composed beauty and expressiveness, Backhaus' photographs are reminiscent of still life paintings. But unlike the classical paintings depicting what were often artificial tableaux of objects meant to evoke aspects of vanitas, Backhaus manages to make time and transience palpable by framing scenes she comes upon by accident."—the publisher READ MORE
