John Gossage: Stadt des Schwarz John Gossage: Stadt des Schwarz
What emerges from the exquisite depths of these richly printed photos is a mysterious, poetic vision, devoid of people, but full of human references.
"Gossage's almost black pictures (shot in both East and West Berlin) replicate the ominous sense of dangerous games being played in the dark and also reflect on the power of photography itself, both to snoop and to control, but also to uncover things that are hidden"—Parr & Badger, The Photobook: A History, Vol. II

"Looking at the U.S. 1957-1986 is an unusual look at cultural and political life in the United States over nearly three decades of change and stability. It combines the individual projects of photographers Frederick Baldwin and Wendy Watriss as well as their combined 13-year documentary collaboration on three different cultural frontiers in Texas." Baldwin and Watriss are the co-founders of the Houston FotoFest biennial.

"The travel narratives of European explorers who discovered Tahiti in the eighteenth century gave birth to the myth of a forgotten Eden. From Bougainville to Gauguin, many adventurous spirits would seek out her shores. In 1904, Lucien Gauthier, enchanted by the island, decided to become a photographer. The collection of images that he would assemble over the next 17 years illustrates the myth of a peaceable paradise."—the publisher READ MORE

Debbie Fleming Caffery: The Spirit and the Flesh Debbie Fleming Caffery: The Spirit and the Flesh—Signed
"One day she stumbled upon a cantina near the church that served occasionally as a brothel. The environment of the smoke-filled tortilla hut and the unpredictable happenings at the cantina became a central focus of her work. Of this period she has said, "I felt incredibly comfortable in a culture rich in celebrations of religious feasts, with strong, independent, highly emotional people, much like the people I grew up with in southwest Louisiana. Symbols of heaven and hell were dominant, both in the church environment as well as the cantina. The brothel brought new elements into my work: secrets, sensual needs, desire, and often unexpected love."—the publisher
