Andrea Land's portfolio In my room
"My portraits of children contain various layers of information relating to the artist, the subject and a mutual exchange between the two. The work seeks to explore the psyche of complex individuals. Each young girl, while physically existing in the natural world, also thrives in another realm, an insular dream state, with her gaze turned inward. The photographs exist as both fictional and autobiographical creations."—Andrea Land

"There is critical consensus that no one person in the last decade has exerted more influence on the photographic arts of contemporary Japan than Takashi Homma...[He] uncovers a threatening disquiet among the boring tower blocks, windswept public places, and the sullen, apathetic children of these suffocating 'feeder' communities"—Ian Luna/Lauren A. Gould, Tokyo Life(Rizzoli, 2007)

Vanessa Winship: Sweet Nothings Vanessa Winship: Sweet Nothings

Copies arriving in 4-8 weeks.

"Photographer Vanessa Winship lived and worked in the area of Eastern Turkey for almost a decade — an explosive region containing the borderlands of Iraq, Iran and Armenia. Struck by enduring images of rural schoolgirls wearing little blue dresses and their delicate status within politically loaded discussions over borders and identity, Winship systematically documented her encounter with them. The result is a fascinating collection of images, each of which tells a simple story while also documenting these girls in their fragility, grace and without any form of posturing."?the publisher READ MORE
