| Daido Moriyama: Buenos Aires (Limited Edition) "Buenos Aires for me has had a 'place in my heart' since my mid twenties, and has continued to do so for a long time since. It started with several photos of the dockside area La Boca, which I saw in a book I no longer recall. What I do remember is they were all black and white, and had a generally dreary appearance. These images were not what you would call memorable, but together with the striking place name La Boca, an inner longing for Argentina, and the town of Buenos Aires in particular, has had a strong pull on my heart. And I have been unable to let go...."—Daido Moriyama |

Eugene Richards: The Fat Baby—Signed
Signed copies arriving in July. Pre-order now.
The Fat Baby
brings together some 15 stories all made since 1990. They
are all very different in both style and tone and "immerse
us in the lives of Honduran coffee growers, members of a
Kansas City street gang, drought-plagued villagers from
Niger, and doctors in an embattled Bosnian hospital. They
chronicle the birth of a first child, an explosion of family
violence, the struggle of a farm family to hang onto its
ancestral home, and the unearthing of a half-hidden grave
said to hold the remains of a slave."—the publisher. READ MORE

Abraham Cruzvillegas: Dr. Lakra
More copies arriving in 2-3 weeks.
"The Mexican artist known as Dr. Lakra embellishes 1950s pinup—magazine reproductions to introduce a content not only irreverent but uncomfortable mortality. The series of works that comprise this velvet—bound volume began with a collection of vintage magazines about nudist camps that Lakra bought at the Sunday market on Brick Lane in London. He set to work despoiling the hygienically upbeat sensuality of these nude models with a morbid parade of skeletons and ghouls, who paw and loom at their prey with crude, lascivious glee, dragging both sex and death down to the level of earthy fact."—the publisher READ MORE

Joel Meyerowitz: The Elements: Air/Water Part 1
More copies arriving in 4-6 weeks.
"The genesis of 'The Elements: Air/Water, Part 1' was sparked in July 2007, when Joel Meyerowitz was directing a video of Olympic divers from an underwater viewing room at a Florida pool. The repetition of dives had one thing in common; with every entry into the pool, an enormous plume of bubbles encased the diver. As each diver swam away, the bubbles coalesced into a cloud that rose to the surface and returned to the atmosphere. This small observation, about one Element's transition into another, led him to think about the individual qualities of the four Elements and their physical relationships.
Softbound 2—book set in a slipcase."—the publisher READ MORE

Due October. Pre-order now.
"At the center of this book is a group of works, Sky Spaces, which have become an art form in their own right, developed by Turrell over the course of his career. Photographing People
with Cathy Maier Callanan
July 12—18, 2009
Photographing people with skill and confidence, and having fun doing it, is the goal of this week with Cathy Maier Callanan. The workshop is for intermediate-level photographers who want to make stronger, more meaningful portraits, and who are hesitant about approaching people. Through daily assignments, we develop the awareness and sensitivity necessary to move beyond literal renderings to more intimate portraits.

This workshop is for photographers wishing to achieve exceptional quality in final prints that meet, and even exceed, their original vision. Infrared photography has a rich beauty all its own — allowing photographers to capture the "unseen". This workshop discusses and explores infrared film and digital infrared techniques using both in-camera and post-production tools. At the same time, Jill guides participants in thinking about their photographs as sketches for varied painting techniques. Participants can experiment and discover which method best suits their personal vision.
