photo-eye Magazine Reviews

This week in photo-eye Magazine:
IN THE REVIEWS:
"By Fredrik Marsh's accounting, there's a lot of ruin in Dresden. Or should I say "ruins," as in time's effect on architecture, culture's physical artifacts, over centuries? Is Dresden a ruined city, or a city of ruins? Neither, probably, but both in this version of its story. The place that was Dresden, thriving and productive, is a distant memory here. An atmosphere of aggression, neglect, disaster, and abandonment pervades these photographs."—from George Slade's review of Fredrik Marsh's Transitions

Best Books of 2009 Featured Book Dash Snow: Polaroids
"Dash Snow documented his gritty and self-destructive lifestyle in the often nostalgia-associated medium of the Polaroid. Drugs, vandalism, nudity, graffiti, guns splayed across the pages twice— once in slightly larger than actual size floating in a background of black matte paper and again as a full-page bleed allowing the viewer to explore the image beyond the novelty of the medium."—Melanie McWhorter
It was selected by Erik van der Weijde and Ed Templeton as a Best Book of 2009. This book is now out-of-print and we have few copies in stock.

| Erwin Olaf: Silver (Major Monograph) The definitive monograph on Olaf to date.
"As an advertising art director, one mentally creates lists of 'blue sky' directors and photographers with whom they wish to work. Erwin Olaf is one of the photographers whose work I've admired for a long time and, along with Eugenio Recuenco, tops my list as the most lust-worthy photographers."—from the blog, If It's Hip, It's Here |
