The Decisive Moment contains images chosen from the whole of Cartier-Bresson's career prior to the 1950s. Yann Gross: Kitintale
"Kitintale by Yann Gross was one of the first books I cataloged for the Best Books feature, and it captured my interest right away. I was excited to see that we had a review copy of it the other day and was not disappointed with it. The book is beautiful — well laid out with very nicely reproduced images, despite being printed on newsprint. The soft-textured cream colored newsprint adds to the overall feel of the book — the images themselves are both saturated yet soft — the general color palate reflects the hazy blue-gray sky and adobe colored earth of Kitintale." — from Sarah Bradley's post on photo-eye Blog.

Raymond Meeks & Deborah Luster: Crime Victims Chronicle
"Crime Victims Chronicle is the new publication by Silas Finch as part of a series co-published with photographer and publisher Raymond Meeks. For this first volume in the series, they selected the difficult topic of dealing with the loss of a family member who has passed away as the result of violence. Designed by Meeks, the layout of the book creatively and quietly combines his photographs, text excerpts from Rose Preston's Crime Victims Guidebook, and loose folio images from Deborah Luster's series Tooth for an Eye. Meeks introduces the subject in the opening pages with circular obituaries of individuals killed as a result of violence."— from Melanie McWhorter's post on photo-eye Blog.

Tesco Vee & Dave Stimson: Touch and Go
"Tesco Vee and Dave Stimson who started the independent record company Touch and Go, originally began their venture by producing handmade fanzine publications of the Midwestern punk scene in 1979. Touch and Go is a hefty volume, rounding out at more than 500 pages and includes all 22 original issues published two decades ago. Introductory essays by Henry Rollins, Peter Davis, Corey Rusk and other highly respected individuals from the punk scene initially gives the sense that this publication, while short lived, was in its own right an important part of the scene's past." — from Antone Dolezal's post on the photo-eye Blog.

 from the book Yangtze
|
Yangtze by Nadav Kander"Nadav Kander returned from his three year odyssey on the Yangtze River with a collection of beautifully crafted photographs depicting the monumental demolition and construction along the banks of China's most revered waterway. Its history is wrought with tales of celebration and catastrophe. Kander's photographs eloquently describe this beautiful tragedy which continues as the Chinese tow through a wake of environmental destruction in a race toward modernization." — from the review by Daniel W. Coburn of Nadav Kander's Yangtze

from the book See You Soon
|
See You Soon by Maxwell Anderson"From the perspective of an almost-fifty-year-old man, this is a sweet account of a transient love affair. Someone younger might find it a trifle, insignificant, fluff. But I feel the yearning in the photographs, and the sentiment of ambiguous loss and perplexity that often accompany our early adult loves. Ryan McGinley: Life Adjustment Center
"Dashwood Book's second Ryan McGinley publication Life Adjustment Center coincides with an exhibition opening October 29, 2010 at Ratio3 in San Francisco. Two themes are presented in this book - first, a collection of b&w studio nudes, many with wild animals, an extension of the studio series "Everybody Knows This is Nowhere". The second features one of McGinley's core elements as a photographer, "capturing his subjects in dreamlike compositions, rich in motion and color, during recent adventures on the road". The book is bound in a blue cloth with red text on cover and spine and a red stain to the page edges."—the publisher READ MORE
