In the past thirty months Jamey Stillings' Bridge at Hoover Dam images have been featured in numerous publications including The New York Times Magazine, the NPR blog The Picture Show, Smithsonian Magazine, American Heritage and Trend Magazine, among others. Stillings' work has also won a number of awards including CENTER Director's Choice Award, First Place, 2010 Photolucida Critical Mass Top 50 & Book Award Finalist, 2010 and Best of ASMP 2010.

photo-eye is pleased to host a book signing for Darius D. Himes and Mary Virginia Swanson for their new, long-awaited title Publish Your Photography Book. For years, photographers have awaited a source of information about publishing their work. This new book includes case studies, interviews with photographic publishing professionals, a timeline for marketing and design and production and many other invaluable resources organized by two of the most knowledgeable book professionals. The signing will take place on Saturday, April 9th from 5:30-7:00 pm and will be a follow-up event to their all-day seminar "To be Published or Self-Publish: A Publishing Primer." Danny Lyon: I Like to Eat Right on the Dirt—Signed
This unusual spiralbound book is a youthful account of a journey back into time. Produced as though a snapshot album, it combines family photographs taken by Lyon's ancestors in czarist Russia and pre-World War II Germany with his own photographs of his children. The book's premise is that the children receive a space-time machine as a gift and go off into the past. There they relive years of previous adventures through their family's old photographs. Includes many pictures taken by Lyon over the course of a decade, as well as text and poetry inspired by his children.
Signed copies of this collectible book will be arriving soon in as-new condition. Selling for as high as $300 online.

First Wednesday's April Salon will be held on April 6th, 2011, with the Salon running from 6:30 to 8pm. The Salon will feature Dornith Doherty and Phil Underdown, both of whom are exhibiting work in the Earth Now exhibition at the New Mexico Museum of Art in Santa Fe. Doherty will present two bodies of work, Vault and Archiving Eden, which explore the role of seed banks and their preservation efforts in the face of climate change, the extinction of natural species and decreased agricultural diversity. Underdown will be discussing his bodies of work Grassland, The Field and The Trapper's Lament, all of which investigate human intervention within the natural landscape.

Von Ferne & Magico by Andreas Trogisch"Von Ferne is the first of an eventual six volumes of black and white photographs by Andreas Trogisch, a German graphic designer and photographer. Von Ferne means From Afar and consists of 30 pictures of black and white pictures taken in Eastern Europe in the 1980s. The second book, Magico is as beautiful in design as its partner-book but instead of 31 pictures there are 28 with two blank pages at the back. The motifs of street debris dominate the book, but this time there is a more global feel to the pictures. Stairways, mannequins, harsh shadows of tufted palms and a breeze block wall make up the visual vocabulary and texture of the early part of the book. A man in a Stetson closes his hands around something on a night-dark street, a pair of severed pigeon wings line a tram rail, evidence of roadkill recently past, and ladders, more mannequins and a final shadow of the photographer complete the picture.
