Yousuf Karsh: Heros of Light and Shadow
This outstanding collection of Karsh's greatest
works demonstrates his masterful use of light and shadow
to illuminate his model's dignity and uniqueness. It includes
his portraits of Winston Churchill, Sophia Loren, Jacques
Cousteau, Audrey Hepburn, and dozens of others - as well
as his lesser known but unmistakable images of anonymous
subjects, from steel and assembly line workers and farmers
to clerics, children, and unknown people on bustling city
streets.

John Coplans: A Body
Coming to photography in his late fifties—the time
of life that Plato associates with philosophy—Coplans
brought along a wealth of experiences, including years as
a painter, magazine editor, and museum director. His photographs
of his own body stem from an intellectual curiosity cultivated
over his 80+ year life. The results are concerned with,
and illustrate, the importance of 'seeing,' of a repeated
gazing at something that is at once so very familiar, and
yet which holds such great mystery.

Andres
Serrano: A History of Sex
Bound like an old medical text or even a bible, A History
of Andres Serrano—A History of Sex is a finely crafted
monograph that is a true collectable. It has beautiful reproductions,
fine paper, gilt edges, a red page marker, an interview,
maps, pages for your notes, along with a broad representation
of Serrano's work. Serrano continues to be an evocative
and challenging artist, living up to his controversial beginnings
with the NEA. This copy shows some edge wear to the front
cover, a slight bump to the bottom spine corner, with a
few internal pages exhibiting very faint wrinkles most likely
from dampness, otherwise it is in Fine condition.

Clara
Sipprell. Pictorial Photographer.
Clara Sipprell (1885-1975) was one of America's foremost
pictorial photographers. From her early years as a portraitist
in Buffalo to the end of her seventy-year career, Sipprell
remained faithful to pictorialist principles, creating beautiful,
softly focused photographs of naturally lit subjects. This
is the first published collection of Sipprell's work. This
title is now out-of-print. Copies are As New and shrink
wrapped.
