Dick Sanders' New Portfolio The Portraits at Sam's Market
"During most of 1997, I spent my Saturday afternoons camped outside of Sam's Market, a convenience store in my (then) hometown of Joshua Tree, California. Outside of the market, I set up a portable studio to make formal portraits of local citizens, as they stopped for milk, beer, cigarettes, and ice cream. My intent was to explore the idea that "people anywhere can stand for people everywhere" and thus serve as a metaphor for the human drama."—Dick Sanders Read more |

Edward Burtynsky: Manufactured Landscapes
"Over the past twenty-five years...Edward Burtynsky has been an explorer of unfamiliar places where human activity has reshaped the surface of the land. His astonishing large-scale color photographs of the landscapes of mining, quarrying, railcutting, recycling, oil refining, and shipbreaking uncover a stark, almost sublime beauty in the residue of industrial 'progress'."—the publisher

Stephen Shore: Essex County—Signed
Made 20 years after Uncommon Places, Shore's newest imagery, upon first reading, seems to have done an about-face from the course set two decades ago. For one thing, they're black-and-white. For another, these are close-ups of tree trunks, moss-covered rocks, and subtle, almost quaint photographs of leaves dusting the forest floor. But in a recent phone conversation, he convincingly elaborated the vital relationship between these two disparate bodies of work. The limited edition is signed, numbered, and has an original print tipped on the cover.

PJ Bowman: Muse. Desire & Severance
PJ Boman has developed a body of remarkable work exploring the idea of a female muse. The gritty, slightly toned b&w images are at once sensuous and emotionally charged, creating an air of expectancy that's palpable. To view more images from the book, visit Boman's online show at photoeye.com.

Andreas Bitesnich: Nudes
These subtly lit nudes blend charm and eroticism with fine technique that consciously hovers around the mysterious. Bitesnich deliberately keeps his tonal range angled towards the dark end; a highly effective style.
