Retrospective of Cartier-Bresson opens in Paris
Bibliotheque Nationale displays images from artist's career spanning 50 years.

"He represents the archetype," said Robert Delpire, who curated the Paris show. "He had a sense of politics and art, he had an incomparable eye, speed and sense of harmony. There is no photographer in the world who could match the quality and consistency of what is on exhibit here."

"For this latest project, the artist travelled to Finland to carry out a photographic project in the monastery of Valhamonde, on the border with Russia. As in his previous works, the resulting sequence of images is only the beginning of a story that combines literature, myth, legend, social reality and fantasy, over and above the actual sequence of photographs."the publisher

Darryl Baird's portfolio Aqueous Humor Series
Im interested in how the photograph became associated with notions of truth or evidence in our society, but Im also intrigued by the creation of an image-consciousness that fuels a consumer economy and creates photographic "standards."
