The Adventures of Guille and Belinda, And the Enigmatic Meaning of Their Dreams by Guggenheim fellow Alessandra Sanguinetti. Sanguinetti started photographing the young cousins Guille and Belinda when they were just 9 and 10 years old. Working regularly with the girls in and around their home in rural Buenos Aires, Sanguinetti photographed their relationship as it developed over the next 5 years. Rather than approaching her subjects with the method of a documentarian, Sanguinetti instead weaves a rich, dreamlike narrative about the cousins and their evident affection for one another. An example of photographic storytelling at its best,
The Adventures of Guille and Belinda condenses time and weaves a tale, which would be impossible in any other medium. Copeis now in stock.
Arriving soon,
The Sound of Two Songs by Magnum member Mark Power, published by Photoworks in the UK. While shooting a Magnum assignment in Poland in 2004, Power became fascinated with the relatively large European country and began travelling there regularly over the following five years. The result is
The Sound of Two Songs presenting 73 photographs from an archive of more than 2000 large format negatives Power shot, documenting a wide array of Poland's rapidly transforming urban spaces, vast wilderness and shifting cultural identity. As the title implies, these images seem to straddle the ground between Poland's rich history and reaching ambitions. Copies now available for preorder.
