Chronology

1949 Born, Massachusetts

1988 While in graduate school, I became inspired by the painters of the Italian Renaissance and tried to work photographically with their visual ideas.

2001 My first trip to Ukraine was my introduction to the former Soviet Union. Ukrainian hospitality signaled the beginning of my "Russia love."

2008 Two journeys to Siberia inspired me to empty out the photographic frame and let the vast spaciousness of land, water and sky support the picture.
