Chronology

 
1947 Born, Boston, Massachusetts
   
1968 Rock and Roll...Los Angeles music scene. At a going away party for me.....Jimi Hendrix plays his guitar...now I want to buy a camera.
   
1969 Move to the country near San Francisco...I buy a horse...and a camera.
   
1973 Birth of my son Elijah brings a new way of seeing to my life.
   
1976 Experience a major earthquake in Guatemala...the closeness of death gives a different meaning to life.
   
1977 Become a mid-wife and helped with home births in United States and Mexico...I photograph some births.
   
1985 Meet my imaginary dog, Sparky.
   
1992 My son moves away to go to college...I build a darkroom in his ex-bedroom.
   
1998 Work with incarcerated, violent offenders and at risk, on-the-street teenagers, teaching photography.
   
2002 I work with adults for two years...that are just out of prison ...teaching street photography.
   
2006 Photographed and lived with the Lacandon Maya in southern Mexico on several occasions
   
2007 Traveled to India for a few months. experienced ashrams, street life and riding camels each day.
   
2010 I lived with and photographed 70 chimpanzees...out in the outback...Cameroon, Africa
