1936 Photographed the Spanish Civil War, Czechoslovakia and other European events.
1942 Served in photo reconnaissance and interpretation in the U.S. Army and won a medal for his work in American Intelligence.
1947 Co-Founded Magnum Photos with Henri-Cartier Bresson, George Rodger, Robert Capa and William Vandivert.
1948 Commissioned by UNICEF to photograph children in need.
