Het Formaat van Waterland / Waterland Images
This portfolio contains 20 landscapes, photographed in the ‘Ooijpolder’, a protected area in the Netherlands. All black-and white negatives have been made with an 8x20" view camera, all prints in the portfolio are silver-gelatin contact prints. The images focus on the presence of water in this area, which is omnipresent, given the fact that it is located along the river ‘Waal’, a side-arm of the Rhine. Overflooding is a permanent threat in this area.
All 20 prints come from a book called ‘Het Formaat van Waterland’ (translated as ‘Waterland Images’) which contains 24 b&w photographs by Hans Bol and 23 poems by Victor Vroomkoning, a well-known Dutch poet; the book also contains 2 introductory essays, and a short statement by the photographer.
In addition to the normal edition, a signed, numbered and slipcased Special Limited Edition (45 copies only) is available that comes with a signed, numbered and matted contactprint. The buyer can choose from 3 separate images.
Of 7 images from this portfolio platinum-palladium prints have been made in an edition of 10 prints per image. The numbers 1/10 to 5/10 of each image have been reserved for 5 handmade, linen boxes that contain 7 platinum-palladium prints per box. The numbers 6/10 to 10/10 of each image are available for individual sales.
The photographer lives and works in the ‘Ooijpolder’.
