Director: Barbara Marigold
Specialty: Marigold Arts is pleased to represent the photography of Kenneth Parker. Parker’s thirty-year career has included exhibitions at The Oakland Museum, The Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History, The California Academy of Sciences, and The San Diego Museum of Natural History.
After an extended apprenticeship with Eliot Porter, who introduced him to color, Parker studied under William Giles, the internationally recognized black-and-white abstract landscape photographer. Parker uses a 4 x 5-inch K. B. Canham field view camera.
Paul Caponigro has been a significant, consistent mentor to Parker since the mid-seventies. Of Parker’s work, Caponigro says,
"Parker’s stunning prints have impressed me . . . for their beauty of craft as well as content. . . . Parker capture[s] in images the depths of his feelings for the sea as well as the power of the desert terrain with which he has communed extensively."
Parker photographs the world’s most pristine locations. Recent travels have taken him to Tibet, Bali, Southeast Asia, and Peru.
Parker's work is featured in the July/August 2003 issue of View Camera magazine. He currently resides in Carmel, California.
