Specialty: Founded in 2006, Silverman is a project-space, located on 2295 Third St., four blocks south of the Mission Bay area and situated just beneath the newly opened Sundance Coffee. Silverman is a space on the edge of a revolution, as more and more artists and gallerists find sanctuary in this exclusive area at the edge of the bay. Working within the framework of curation, Silverman explores the relationship between disciplines. Silverman is a collaborative effort to subvert the languages, both theoretical and visual, which are commonly used to define "exhibition". Silverman is based on a concept that seeks to maintain a direct connection between the venue and the exhibition, a distinct interaction between the space and the art it houses is established. By not formulating our own rules and definitions, Silverman encourages the re-articulation of meaning when communicated over social, cultural and geographical distances. In addition, Silverman Gallery provides consulting services to assist specific needs of contemporary art collectors.
