Pablo Frank, Bill Burke & Ed Grazda at Robert's 184 Bowery NYC
loft circa 1970-71 - by Robert Frank with Ed Grazda's camera.
I first saw
The Americans as a freshman at RISD in 1964. Two different teachers - English and design - showed it to the class. Needless to say, it changed my life by showing me the possibilities of photography.
This photo was taken in October 1970 when Frank was visiting the RISD photo grad student class at Harry Callahan's house in Providence, RI. Robert had just tore up one of the student’s photos - to make them more interesting.
