Binran.
Photographs by Masato Seto.
Little More, Tokyo.

Captured sitting in glass cabins, and illuminated by neon lights it is difficult initially to know exactly what this collection of women are exactly doing until one makes the connection with the title of this publication. Seto’s photographs, taken on his travels throughout Taiwan, capture women who sell Betel nuts – better locally known as “binran”, a sort of palm nut – which can have a stimulating effect and is considered a luxury grocery item in the country. Forty-eight full colour photographs, printed on glossy paper and presented one to a page, capture a surreal phenomenon.

Purchase Binran.
