Martin Parr

Photographer / Bookmaker

We English.
SIMON ROBERTS

This large-scale book looks at the leisure locations of England from an aerial perspective. Best new book on England for many years.
The Worst Hotel in the World.
KESSELSKRAMER

A book about the ongoing campaign from the KesselsKramer advertising agency on this scruffy hostel in Amsterdam. Brilliantly funny and sends up the whole grubby business of advertising. It demonstrates the genius of Eric Kessels, better known for his wacky collections of vernacular photography.
Holly Innocence
Joan Fontcuberta

Wonderful new book from the brilliant Fontcuberta, where he assumes to be a priest, after replying to a spam e-mail , asking for cash ( indirectly , of course). Also a unique method of presenting a book in Spanish and English , with an acetate sheet over the text to read in either language.
Protest Photographs.
CHAUNCEY HARE

The maverick photographer Hare collects here his older work and presents this in a new and welcome volume. Boy, do they look good after all these years.
Scrapbook.
DONOVAN WYLIE

This made-up scrapbook assembles photos, newspaper cuttings and ephemera from the period of the troubles in Northern Ireland. Made all the more poignant as Wylie lived through this period in Belfast himself.
The Corinthians

Another gem from the eccentric Archive of Modern Conflict in London. This book shows the best of the Kodachrome slides collected over many years, predominantly from eBay.
Ma Proche Banlieue.
PATRICK ZACHMANN

This beautifully designed book tells the stories of various suburban lives with photos and texts. Photos are in black and white and colour.
Gaza Photo Album.
KENT KLICH

Klich has photographed the partly destroyed private rooms in Gaza after the recent Israeli bombing. The book is presented in the form of a photo album sourced at the scene.
Agonie.
ANTOINE D'AGATA

This quirky photographer finally makes a book that does his images justice.
J_subs.
OLIVER SIEBER

Portraits of various Japanese punks, but presented in the fanzine style, as found in the stores of Shinjuku. Great example of a small independent publication, with a good idea and great production values.
Martin Parr is a photographer, a curator and editor. He is currently working on Vol 3 of The Photobook, A History and a book about the history of Chinese photo books.
