Artist Statement
“Surface” is a series of images that explore the potential of water and the seductiveness of looking. You will find me leaning over the water’s edge or hovering over a puddle. I am present, in the moment finding beauty in a mud puddle. Stillness, the water becomes glass, dense fog, toxic haze, bodily fluid, and primordial soup. The unfathomable potential of the water to create life is a phenomenon that preoccupies me. The c-prints are twenty inches square mounted on aluminum.

The minimal photographs are chromogenic prints approximately 20” sq. mounted on aluminum and made in an edition of five.

Process Statement
The photographs in this series were taken with Hasselblad and a 80mm lens. The prints are balanced to the true color of the water.

The prints become more of an object when mounted flush to aluminum, hung with cleat and spacer on wood back frame. The image floats 1/2" off of the wall when hung.
