Stages for Being by Ralph Eugene Meatyard. Published by University of Kentucky Art Museum.
Stages For Being is a retrospective look at Ralph Eugene Meatyard’s work. It pairs photographers, curators, and art critics with their favorite Meatyard photos and gives their personal perspectives into the work; that said, the book goes a long way to show us that Meatyard’s works are enigmas that have to be reckoned, each image, for itself by each one of us for ourselves. Meatyard, an optometrist by trade, continues to show us that seeing is a miracle, but seeing a photograph is the work of meditation.
