Jan Groover, Photographer by Jan Groover.   Published by Scheidegger and Spiess.

Of all the photo-books I purchased, received, and borrowed this year, Jan Groover’s Laboratory of Forms is the one that remains at my bedside. It has everything you could want in a great photo-book. Lots – and I mean lots – of captivating images. Lots of beautifully written and insightful text. Artist quotes, contact sheets, behind-the-scenes images, archival materials, attentive sequencing, clean design, delicious paper, comprehensive endnotes… More than flatware, there are cars, vegetables, bodies, architecture and many subjects in between. If only all photo-books offered as much

Honorable Mention:
A Mycological Foray by John Cage
