Out of Print

First edition, first printing (2002).

Signed by Sammallahti on the laid in text sheet.

Very Good condition, with moderate soiling to the boards and loosened spine. Missing slipcase. Interior is Fine.

In many respects, Pentti Sammallahti is a modern-day nomad, an itinerant photographer who records lands and peoples as he comes upon them. One of the most distinguishing elements of his work is the inclusion of animals-they wander into his photographs, lounge about, run around, and disappear as naturally as they appeared. This substantial new monograph—the first by an American publisher and already out-of-print-contains an excellent cross-section of his panoramic work, including two vertical panoramas that are printed on a separate, oversize sheet along with the accompanying text. This insert, integral to the book, has been signed by the artist.

Pentti Sammallahti is represented by photo-eye Gallery. See his work here.
