Design for Military.

World Photo Press, Tokyo, In Japanese, 2006. In Japan. 192 pp., 8½x11¼".

Design for Military is a graphic design book with very little photography. Yes, we sell photo books, but this one was hard to resist. Beginning ever so crudely with "Emergency Procedures for Urinating and Defecating," and continuing on with manuals from around the world illustrating all types of military- releasing carrier pigeons, US WWII posters, flight ejection, preparing a slab of meat, torpedoing submarines, how to use your military issued Leica and much more. The text is in Japanese with manuals and illustrations primarily from the United States, but also Japan, Germany, and Russia.
