Los Angeles Spring.

Photographs and foreword by Robert Adams.
Aperture, New York, 1986. 64 pp., 50 duotone reproductions, 12x9½".

Robert Adams indicts our culture in its neglect of the environment in this book of photographs on the Los Angeles metropolitan area. What once was a veritable Eden has now been ravaged by poor city planning and years of human exploitation. Throughout these pictures of chaos are hints of a natural paradise now lost. Adams states, "All that is clear is the perfection of what we were given, the unworthiness of our response, and the certainty, in view of our current deprivation, that we are judged."
