Each year, Twinsburg, Ohio is host to "Twinsday," America's foremost festival for twins. Mark is counted among the best documentary photographers of the late 20th century and is widely known for her work in India and on runaways. She has been attending and photographing the “Twinsday” festival since 1998, using a variety of camera formats. For the past 2 years she has set up a 20x24" Polaroid camera on the festival grounds, inviting sets of twins to have their portraits made, and gathered together here for this oversize monograph. "By using this camera, I could show, in precise detail, not only how much twins are alike but the subtle qualities that often make them different." During the winter of 2002, Mark spent hours on the phone talking with each of the twins photographed, creating a complementary set of texts, snippets of which appear at the back of the book.
