The Eye that Shapes.

Photographs and text by Minor White.
Bulfinch Press, New York, 1989. 289 pp., 10 color and 175 b&w duotone plates plus numerous text illustrations, 10x11¾".

This is a major collection of White's photographs dating from 1938-1975, with a concentration on the 1940s and 1950s, the period during which White produced the largest number of images. Also includes a selection of White's letters, many addressed to luminaries of the photography world, as well as a biographical chronology and a text by Peter Bunnell, Professor of the History of Photography at Princeton University. Only a quarter of the photographs in this beautifully printed study have been previously reproduced.
