Edward Weston met Willard Van Dyke in 1928 while both artists were attending an exhibition in San Francisco. They became friends when Van Dyke studied with Weston in Carmel in 1929 at the age of 22. Weston was 43 at that time. Over the years their seventy-four letters to each other--all included here--provide a fascinating personal view as they discuss their lives and interests including cameras, films, exhibitions, and expeditions.
