The Animal Trail.
Four Seasons of Wildlife Photography.

Photographs by Manabu Miyazaki.
Chronicle Books, San Francisco, 1988. 82 pp., 65 color plates,, 10¼x8½".

This unusual book of night photographs provides a remarkable look at the wildlife of the Japanese Alps where the animals, unbeknownst to themselves, tripped the cameras and produced their own portraits. Photographer Manabu Miyazaki used five cameras along with infrared sensors in the woods along a mountain trail to show that wildlife have adapted to their environment even though mankind has invaded their territory. The night life of the kingdom of animals is truly magical as this collection of photographs so wonderfully shows.
