Chatelin’s photographs depict an Israel from a multitude of perspectives, never
shying away from the human element or emotions and often highlighting aspects that
are repeatedly covered in the international press. Urban conflicts and border controls,
are juxtaposed next to urban dance parties, protests, young army members, hippy
festivities, orthodox Jews, colonists, homosexuals, pilgrims, Israeli Arabs, border
conflicts with Lebanon and strip bars. With little text, the109 black and white
photographs are presented one full image to a page.
