Publisher's Description
Shek Kip Mei was the first public housing estate development built by the British colonial government in 1954. Originally intended as a short term solution, the oldest blocks were finally torn down in November 2006. Photojournalist Vincent Yu captured life in the estate for some 200 elderly residents and their ‘homes’ during the last phase of its existence. Many having inhabited the crumbling estate for over five decades.
