Publisher's Description
Now in its 12th year, the Deutsch Börse Photography Prize presented this year four outstanding photographers who have all demonstrated a long and sustained engagement with the photographic image. John Davies and Esko Männikko explore the powerful aspects of the sense of place in photography, while Jacob Holdt and Fazal Sheikh present a new form of political activism in their work. This fully illustrated catalogue includes a short story by Riikka Ala-Harja inspired by Esko Männikkö’s work, a fictional response to John Davies’ photographs by Sarah Hall and essays by Dr Caroline Blinder and Mary Warner Marien contextualising the work of Jacob Holdt and Fazal Sheikh.
