The Artist and the Photograph.

Text by Anatxu Zabalbeascoa. Photographs by Joan Fontcuberta.
Actar, Barcelona, 2000. 144 pp., 140 color illustrations, 6¾x9½".

Spanish photographer/artist Fontcuberta continues to display his genius for exploiting the assumption that photography records reality. In this new body of work, Fontcuberta has 'curated' an exhibition of photographic sketches that the great Spanish masters--Picasso, Miro, Dali, Tapies--used while developing and reforming their work. A wonderful exploration of this fictional part of history.
