In the early days of medicine, before photographs could illustrate the human form, wax models were carefully crafted to reveal the order and complexity of the human body. The Museo La Specola in Florence, like its American counterpart, the Mütter Museum, is a repository of such models. This dense, stunning collection features over 600 of the Museo's examples of medical structure, abnormalities, and exhibits.
