Holly Roberts Works 1989 - 1999

Photographs by Holly Roberts. Text by T. D. Mobley, Robert Wilson, and Steve Yates.
Nazraeli Press, Tucson, 2000. 80 pp., 60 four-color illustrations, 9x12".

This quietly accomplished photographer was an early pioneer of the painted photograph--a technique which involved painting on top of a photographic print and subsequently scratching through, wiping away, or smudging over to either reveal, or distort, the underlying image. Adept at distilling elements of the human psyche and the dynamics of relationships, Roberts has steadily gained in artistic depth and deserved reputation.
