About the Ltd Edition
Larry Clark is the epitome of the artist who has crossed the observor/participant line—born in Tulsa, OK in 1943, he began shooting amphetamines when he was 16. He has stated, "I shot with my friends everyday for three years and then left town, but I've gone back through the years. Once the needle goes in it never comes out." Over the years, Clark has struggled with his demons, hopping in and out of rehab, obsessively working on ambitious projects released at times to critical acclaim, at times ignored. Punk Picasso is compiled like a scrapbook, pulling out bits and pieces from across the span of his career as photographer, filmmaker, and bad-boy art star. The title refers to David Denby's review of his film Bully: "…as the camera wanders—grazes—among naked thighs and tattooed torsos, this punk Picasso combines the multiple desires of lover, artist and voyeur…"
