'Memory's images, once they are fixed in words, are erased,' Polo said.
'Perhaps I am afraid of losing Venice all at once, if I speak of it.'
-a fragment of a conversation between Marco Polo and Kublai Khan from Invisible Cities by Italo Calvino.
Past, history, and memory play a predominant role in the photographic work of Ewa Monika Zebrowski. In her vedute, this Montréal artist renders emotions, fleeting instants, the evanescent nature of places. 'My images reflect the passing of time, the faded beauty of this lagoon city of waterways and reflections...I wanted my book to be small and the images to feel tentative as if they would disappear off the page.'
