Zen Foto Gallery, 2011. 36 pp., 30 duotone illustrations, 10¼x7¼".

Publisher's Description
The word tohjiba derives from the characters for hot water and for curing, the tohjiba are the natural hot springs of Japan that have been used for centuries and probably for millenia, by people seeking relaxation and recuperation. Kitai often visited these tohjiba of northern Honshu in the early 1970s he would meet the local families on their extended holidays. Few tohjiba survive in the same form, but it would be well worth searching in the remoter parts of Akita.
